It is with great pleasure that I have been awarded The Liebster Award by my fellow sister in Christ, and blogger Alisha Blue of BecomeLess.net. The Liebster Award recognizes bloggers who are new to the community and culture of blogging. This Award is presented to bloggers by bloggers and I am so blessed that Alisha saw fit to award Church Girl Diaries. My life as a blogger has been one full of emotion to say the least, I launched Church Girl Diaries on December 7th of last year. I expected to be influential to others but I never thought that God would have several love letters written to me by ME from Him. If I were prompted to select one word to describe my experiences thus far, I would call this journey; REVITATLIZING. [Psalms 23:3] “He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake.” In addition to accepting The Liebster Award, I will be answering questions that will reveal more about the heart behind Church Girl Diaries, my “WHY?” along with introducing a few of my favorite bloggers.
What has been your challenge when it comes to blogging?
When I launched CGD, I did so on the promise that I would be completely committed to God’s provision for the blog. I launched with FIRE and such drive to post weekly. I vowed to be transparent, knowing that I would unintentionally step on a few toes because of my fearlessness. In honesty, I have lost my momentum, I am not posting weekly and there are times when I am clutching my phone in tears, writing about the pain someone else has caused me. I have been apprehensive about publishing some content on the character of others’ and how it has impacted my life.
What is your number one tip for other bloggers?
If you desire to become a blogger, I would recommend that you remain open to the Ideas of Christ. I planned my blog from April until December. When I finally threw my hands up in surrender to God and His ideas, CGD came together in a matter of weeks.[Isaiah 55:9] His ways are ALWAYS higher than our ways. Honor your promises! Set goals for the mission of your blog and stick to them, especially if the idea was a gift from God. He is faithful to the faithful. [Psalms 18:25] “You deal faithfully with the faithful; you show integrity toward the one who has integrity.”
What are your hobbies other than blogging?
When I am away from writing, I love painting and DIY projects. I believe that God has gifted me with a creative mind. I am literally, ALL hands-on deck with anything that has to do with creativity. Before accepting a calling to teaching, it was my desire to become a fashion designer. I kept a sketch book full of designs that I hope to still someday produce. I won’t limit God on what He can do in my life. I accept it ALL! Last, but certainly not least. I am in love with being a mother to my beautiful daughter Zoë, I could not imagine life without the unlimited tea parties, glamourous makeovers or fashion shows. Spending time with her is my most favorite thing to do!
Who is your favorite blogger and why?
My favorite Blogger is Alisha Blue of Becomeless.net. I admire Alisha’s transparency and authenticity, I always find myself relating to her testimonies. Most importantly Alisha follows the trend of “he must become greater and we must become less.” [John 3:30] In a post, titled “Why BecomeLess?” Alisha shares what motivated her while creating BecomeLess; “In a world where many are encouraged to become more (more beautiful, more wealthy, more famous), Christ encourages us to do the exact opposite.” In life as an adolescent, I’d wished that there were more people who promoted living with God at the forefronts of their lives. Becoming less, so that He can become GREATER.
Tell us about your blog and why you started blogging.
I consider freedom and obedience gifts, and it is because of those two things that I have accepted the call to ministry through CGD. Writing has always been a therapeutic escape for me, but I have not always had the courage to share about things I experienced privately. In fact, many times I refused to share my life out of the fear of feeling shamed. God spoke to me one day and it was quite simple from there. He asked me to share my life and He has given me peace because of my obedience. It may not always be comfortable but my obedience has the power to save someone else’s soul. You can read more about my motivation to start CGD on my very first blog post linked below!
UNASHAMEDLY, I cannot live without my phone. I have everything on my phone that I need and use daily. The evolution of technology has made it so easy for all of us to rely heavily on our phones. The three most important things on my phone are my YouVersion Bible App, pictures and my notes. I have to have all three!
What and who motivates you to write?
As cliché as it may sound for a Christian blogger to say, Jesus is my source! Experiencing a true relationship with God has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. Graciously, because I have life, I have an opportunity to share His love with others. The truth of my testimony being able to bring healing and hope to someone else is highly motivating for me, but that mission is incomplete if I fail to mention the faithfulness of God.
